"For the price of his addiction, is freedom."
With things as they have been, I did not get a chance to speak with Ilse's little bird until today. It was a meeting well worth the effort, however. Radovan has a cunning mind, and his associate, Alex, seems like the sort of person I wouldn't mind having on my roster. It would be most interesting to see her and Zu work together, and I suppose it may be arranged in future.
I wonder what is in these pills? I probably ought not think of it, but I wonder if Pierce could run a few tests and find out for me. If we could manufacture the drug ourselves, we wouldn't need to rely on Radovan and his source. It would protect his source all the more, thus decreasing the chances of Muldoon ever finding his own supply of them.
What should we call it, anyhow? Freedom? That would be an interesting codename for it. It could be said that we are giving Muldoon a dose of Freedom.
Perhaps that is too trite.
There was mention of an Upper Level coyote shifter--a doctor at a prestigious clinic. She apparently dislikes her own kind and is pro-slavery. Radovan wishes for the help of the Blood Meridian in righting this, but if it happens, it will happen later. There is far too much on our plate right now to worry ourselves over one shifter whose rehabilitation will take time better spent in the pursuit of other schemes.
I am told we have already adopted out several of the Spartans. More are expected to leave over the weekend.
I think, perhaps, that we will use the bodies of the slavers killed on patrols as a means to send a message. Perhaps we can have their skins placed strategically throughout the city. I wonder if Machete or Pierce have ever flayed a human body before?
( 'You know; I think this just might make you my favorite person in Bleaker right now.' [Radovan, Alex] )
Desmond finally goes to Siddartha's to meet with Radovan. The two discuss a plot to get Muldoon addicted to a unique type of drug with lethal withdrawal symptoms. Desmond is also introduced to Alex, and he's entreated to help in re-adjusting Clue's attitude towards shifters.
