It would seem Rajini Singh is out to get me. I suppose Murdoch and Calen told her about their business with me before they died. Interesting. Had I known Murdoch was connected to her so closely, I might have had her pay a visit to him during his stay at Headquarters. He might have liked watching her bones break.

Ah, well. Hindsight.

I will have to be more careful about where and in what company I shift, though with so many knowing what I am, I wonder if such precautions will be effective. If things become too much to handle, I might take Creed up on his offer of staying at the compound for a few days.

I look forward to an excuse to spill more hunter blood.

Desmond meets Creed on the street, and Creed gives Desmond a copy of Rajini's notice. The two discuss Creed's family history a bit and also Ilse.

I owe much to Joshua. I owe him for Ilse's life--and there is no value that could possibly match that.

I owe much to the Kargas for their kindness and understanding.

I owe much to so many. I fear I will never be able to repay it all.

I think it is time to rearrange the house again.

I am not quite sure how to feel about the possibility of Lorelei and Joshua becoming more than just friends. On the one hand, he is a fairly tolerable sort--for a hunter. On the other, he is still a hunter. Time will tell, I suppose. I can only imagine what the rest of the Meridian would think if ever they found out.

Perhaps I can introduce Creed into the group as an ally. If it is explained properly, they may understand.

I had forgotten how uncomfortable it can be to ride a camel. I am sorely out of practice.

Desmond pays a visit to Creed at his compound to deliver a slug gun. The two discuss Lorelei, and Desmond and Creed set up a possible hunt in the desert.

Joshua Creed and Isabelle Na'Ostiria both have connections to Zero Tolerance. The latter, I believe, is not such a surprise--but the former. . . .

Should I have trusted him with information about myself so easily?

He has been nothing but helpful, and I have told him nothing condemning, save my name and species. Am I no better than Ilse, believing I can play a game that I am ill-equipped to win?

Ilse . . . I wish she was here. There are advantages to being mated with a doctor, but I can only enjoy those privileges when she is actually present. With the clinic unsafe as it is, I cannot go there, nor do I wish to do so. They are minor injuries at any rate--bruises, for the most part, and some sore muscles.

I never want to shift out of fear again.

A seemingly innocent, everyday ride on the monorail takes a disastrous turn when the car derails and crashes. Isabelle, Creed, and Desmond are stuck in the middle of it. Isabelle learns of Desmond's status as a shifter--the hard way--and Desmond learns of both Creed and Isabelle's ties to Zero Tolerance
